The Blackest Crow banjo is a flush-fret banjo. You can see the frets to get more accurate noting and you can also do the amazing slides that fretless banjos are known for. It features a walnut neck and Pegheds brand geared tuners. They are made to look old timey but function with gears to enable quick tuning changes. The fretboard is Indian Rosewood. The goatskin hide has been coffee stained and is attached to a three-ply, steambent walnut rim with an African mahogany rim cap. There are abalone dots on the scoop area. This banjo includes a brass tailpiece, brass dowel hardware and Aquila Red banjo strings.
The inlay was made from spalted birch that we cut here on the farm. The beak is buffalo horn, and the eye is a combination of wood and abalone. It was all done by me, by hand. No computers are used to cut anything on any of my banjos. Everything is hand guided by me.
